What makes our underwater photography the best?

There's nothing quite like seeing your baby swimming underwater. And we know time with them is precious, so having a snapshot of a skill that you and your little one have learnt together is something you'll want to keep for a lifetime.

Our underwater photography captures that special moment where your little one shows off everything they've learnt so far in their lessons.

Our photographers and equipment are world-class, so you can feel confident that you'll be taking home a beautifully crisp, high-resolution shot of your baby, striking their best pose. And we take up to 9 images of your baby on our photo shoots and you’ll receive all images!

So take home a unique keepsake. It's a chance to share your little one's progress with your friends and family too.

"Our photoshoot experience was amazing from start to finish. The staff were so helpful and warm from the moment we arrived. We were blown away with the quality of our photo and our friends and family are amazed at our little lady’s show-stopping picture on our sitting room wall! Thank you to all the staff, we will cherish these photos that celebrate our baby’s achievement in the water. We would absolutely recommend this if you want a really special photo of your baby. - Lorna & Ayla, Dublin

How does it work?

Being a part of the Water Babies family means you’ll have the opportunity to book on to a photo shoot as you book on with us. Your photo shoot session is an incredible opportunity to finish your first term and record your little one's achievements on their Water Babies journey.

We set up a state-of-the-art studio in the pool to create that iconic 'Nirvana' shot of your baby. The shoot is based on the activities that you'll learn from your lessons, so you and your baby can feel completely at ease. And don't worry. We assess every baby individually so you don't need to be anxious about whether they're ready. We're only ready when they are.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • To provide the safest possible experience for everyone we have decided to remove the viewing room. Now rather than choosing which images you like best, you’ll receive all the wonderful images we take of your little one.

  • In previous Water Babies photo shoots, we would set up viewing rooms for our customers to select their favourite images and pay for them separately.

A lot of factors including COVID safety measures, evolving technologies and cost efficiencies have resulted in us changing how we do things. We no longer have a viewing room where you could choose which images you liked best and pay for them separately.

The good news is that this has reduced our overall cost base allowing us to offer you all your digital images at a more affordable price, emailed to you within days of the photoshoot.

  • We will never make your baby do anything they don't want to do. Our motto is: when they're ready, we're ready.

If they're not feeling up to it on the day, you can organise with your local office to come back and try again on another day, once you are still booked into classes.

  • If you would like family photos taken, you must contact your local office to arrange this in advance. This way we can make all of the necessary safety steps ahead of time.

  • Of course you can, please contact your local office for more details on how to set this up.

  • Please contact your local office to find out if your photoshoot pool allows spectators.

  • Our photographers and equipment are world-class, so you can feel confident that you'll be taking home a beautifully crisp, high resolution shot of your baby, striking their best pose. If you want the opportunity to go under with your little one please contact your local office in advance.

  • If you or any of your family members have any of the following symptoms, please do not attend your photo shoot. Instead, contact your local office and they will try to get you onto another shoot, once you are still booked into classes.

    ·         Do not attend lessons with symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough, a change to your sense of smell or taste).

    ·         Sanitise your hands upon entry and as regularly as you can. Avoid touching your face where possible.

    ·         Spectators aren’t currently allowed on poolside, so only the baby and parent/carer swimming should come to the lesson.

    ·         Always keep a safe distance from others.

    ·         Arrive at your class “beach ready” to enter and exit the premises as quickly and efficiently as possible.

    ·         Follow all the signage in and around your Water Babies venue to maintain your safety and the safety of others.

  • To provide the safest possible lessons we decided it was best to limit the number of people in the pool. While our photographer and specialised dipper will be in the pool with you at your photo shoot, we will always be taking the utmost care about the safety and comfort of your baby.

  • Its preferable that the person who usually brings baby to Water Babies lessons, brings them to the photoshoot to maintain consistency for your baby.

Our professional Dippers

Meet our Dippers
The thought of your little one going on an underwater shoot might seem a bit daunting, but don't worry. We have the specialised role of a 'Dipper', who is an experienced Water Babies teacher and has been further trained to take your little one beneath the surface for their moment. They'll also be able to determine whether your baby is okay on the day. It's only when they're ready that we're ready.

Award-winning photographers

Award-winning photographers
It's not as easy to take underwater shots of babies swimming as you might think! It's not just a case of point and click. Our photographers need to be able to hold their breath underwater, lower their heart rate, use heavy equipment and keep their hands steady...and that's just the start. They've also got to deal with tricky lighting conditions, and wriggly babies, with only a split-second to get the perfect snap. That's why many of our photographers started out as scuba divers and then took up under water photography professionally. And they've won loads of awards too. Some of then have even worked for the BBC and National Geographic. Impressive stuff.
